Medicare Dental Coverage

Under Part A and Part B (Original Medicare) most ordinary dental services won't be covered. Dental coverage under Medicare happens to be quite limited and usually doesn't cover these benefits.

  • Dental exams
  • Cleanings
  • Dry mouth
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Oral cancer
  • Decaying teeth

Dental Clinics

If you don't want to pay for the services, dental clinics may be available. They let you get these dental services for lower costs. These clinics are open to the public and are located in most states and provide most regular dental services. Check with your local hospital or Medicaid office to see if a dental clinic is offered. Some services covered.

  • Braces
  • Bridges
  • Crowns
  • Gum Disease
  • Implants

Medicare Dental and Part A

When certain dental services happen because of being in the hospital, such as jaw surgery following an accident, Part A can pay for those emergencies. It can also cover things such as extractions in preparing for radiation treatment in the jaw.

Medicare plans can cover dental

Dental cards give you access to a network of dentists who choose to give discounted rates on dental exams, cleanings and more. You pay a yearly fee and then use your dental card to get your discount. Be sure to ask your dentist if they have discount cards.
