Medicare Dental Coverage

Under Part A and Part B (Original Medicare) most ordinary dental services won't be covered. Dental coverage under Medicare happens to be quite limited and usually doesn't cover these benefits.

Dental Clinics

If you don't want to pay for the services, dental clinics may be available. They let you get these dental services for lower costs. These clinics are open to the public and are located in most states and provide most regular dental services. Check with your local hospital or Medicaid office to see if a dental clinic is offered. Medicare Dental and Part A

When certain dental services happen because of being in the hospital, such as jaw surgery following an accident, Part A can pay for those emergencies. It can also cover things such as extractions in preparing for radiation treatment in the jaw.

Medicare plans can cover dental

You can get dental coverage with Medicare Advantage Plans (Medicare Part C) to cover routine dental. Check the Medicare Advantage plan you're interested in to see what dental services are covered. Compare plans at Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) (TTY users 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

They usually cover things like:

Dental discount cards

You can also get a dental discount card to help save on dental care. Look how much is covered with the dental card and how much you will have to pay to be sure that's the right option for you. Dental cards give you access to a network of dentists who choose to give discounted rates on dental exams, cleanings and more. You pay a yearly fee and then use your dental card to get your discount. Be sure to ask your dentist if they have discount cards.
